Gene Simmons, the frontman for Kiss, has just grabbed a mansion in Beverly Hills. The rock legend paid $10.5 million for the modern marvel, TMZ reports. Tomer Fridman with Compass represented the seller. Lisa Young with Compass represented the buyer.
The transaction comes a year after Simmons placed his longtime property, also in Beverly Hills, on the market. He was asking $22 million for the palatial mansion and wound up selling it last month for $16 million. Josh and Matt Altman with Douglas Elliman represented both the buyer and seller in that transaction.
Bought in Beverly Hills
Simmons seems to have quickly poured the profits from the sale of his former home into a sleek new showpiece. He also recorded a discount on the property, which had last listed for $11.5 million.
Although it’s quite close to the property he sold, the rock star truly switched up his style with this purchase. It’s is a far cry from his previous abode, which was reminiscent of a chateau.
The 2017 build, designed by the Swiss architectural firm Design21, offers four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 7,741 square feet. Constructed of glass, steel, oak, and concrete, the hulking behemoth overlooks mountain, valley, and Pacific Ocean views.
Inside, the layout offers 12-foot ceilings and an open floor plan. The space features a large open kitchen, dining, and living room. Upstairs are a library and home theater. The property also includes a wine room and 1,800 square feet of deck space.
It is set on a half-acre, with drought-tolerant landscaping, and the sleek infinity pool and hot tub look almost glassy. Artful LED exterior lighting creates an eye-catching showpiece.
Despite the huge size of the home, the architects have mitigated its environmental impact with such eco-friendly touches as solar panels and a green roof.
Simmons, 72, won’t have too long to enjoy his new digs, since he’s headed out back on tour at the end of the year. When the bassist isn’t playing gigs, he seems intent on living in the 90210.

Sold in Beverly Hills
As for the Beverly Hills home that Simmons let go, he bought it with his wife, Shannon Tweed Simmons, for $1.3 million in 1986. The couple lived there for decades with their two children, updating it and expanding the place in 2000. Although the final price was not what Simmons was originally looking for, he appears to have made quite a profit from the sale.
His fans will probably recognize the residence. It was the setting for his reality TV show “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” which ran on the A&E network from 2006 until 2012.
Simmons co-founded Kiss in the early 1970s. Known for its wild stage makeup, the band is embarking on the “End of the Road World Tour,” which kicks off in December in Las Vegas.
